Tallapoosa Data Center: January IGA Reveals Major Changes to the Proposed Project
A newly released agreement between Haralson County and the Development Authority provides new details about the proposed data center project and raises important questions for residents.
Dated January 20th, 2026, an intergovernmental agreement between Haralson County and the Development Authority reveals:
- Approximately 1,600 acres involved.
- Property is priced at around $35 million.
- The land can only be used for a data center and related technology uses, not for a landfill or transfer station.
- The agreement removes previous job creation and capital investment requirements that were included in the 2025 agreement.
- Future tax incentives remain a possibility and would require approval.
As discussions continue, residents have been raising their concerns about transparency, impacts on our rural community, infrastructure, water usage, taxes, and what exactly is planned for this land.
